First
shooting for PeoplesMag. A street
photography blog, from the people to the people.
For
starters, I went to Kapani, the famous
market in Thessaloniki. I wanted to take some shots, at the opening of the market’s
day, before crowd gets in.
I do street photography, for ages. I love to
take people’s photos, as I walk on the streets. And believe me, I walked lots
of them. From the smallest village in Portugal, to Fifth Avenue in NYC. And Thessaloniki
? Hundreds of times, with my camera on hand. And I love it.
That night,
I couldn’t sleep at all. Insomnia kept me awake and somewhere round six o’clock
in the morning, simply dressed, threw a couple of lenses into the bag, took my
camera and left. Before dawn, I was driving the city roads.
I parked
the car and went to the first cafe I saw open, ordered for espresso, quick last
minute check on my camera, while “I Saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus” was playing.

All set.
7:45. Time
for my mission. Cold vital air, just a few people on the street, less than
allowed by the hour, but let’s not forget the crisis. A cold but sunny winter
day, on the edge of 2012, was just beginning.
I love
photography. And I respect it. As I respect each one of my themes. What we see
here is life. Art is many things, but life is just one. It’s real.
My warmest
regards to my fellowmen in Kapani. And a warm smile, in a cold winter day, on
the edge of 2012, in Thessaloniki.
